Development Chair

Type: Part-Time
Rate: $35
Hours: 10-15 hours per week


This position offers the flexibility of being located anywhere in the United States, with primary work taking place virtually and occasional travel required as needed for events, donor engagement, and key organizational activities.


  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive short-term and longer-term donor and fundraising strategy that is aligned with our organizational goals and strategic vision.
  • Identifying and cultivating new funding sources, including individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants.
  • Leading grant writing efforts, including research, proposal writing, and reporting.
  • Managing donor stewardship programs to maintain and enhance ongoing relationships.
  • Identifying and leading organizational growth efforts.
  • Planning and executing events aimed at engaging stakeholders, increasing community involvement, and raising funds.
  • Collaborating with team members to integrate fundraising strategies across different programs and working groups.
  • Monitoring and reporting on fundraising progress to Ayandeh’s board and key stakeholders.
  • Leveraging technology and social media platforms for effective fundraising and donor outreach.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key community figures and organizations within the Iranian diaspora.
  • Providing training and support to team members and volunteers involved in development activities including Ayandeh ambassadors.
  • Developing processes and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and ethical practices pertaining to nonprofit fundraising.


  • Prior experience in development and fundraising, preferably within a new or growing organization
  • Strong understanding of and experience with the Iranian American community, culture, and dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for persuasive and engaging storytelling.
  • Demonstrated ability in grant writing and securing funds from diverse sources.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in planning and executing successful fundraising events.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and build strong external partnerships.
  • Familiarity with CRMs and digital fundraising tools.
